Icon IPL in Adelaide
Intense pulsed light · Cynosure
Intense pulsed light for pigmentation, facial redness, visible vessels and overall skin tone.

Icon IPL is an intense pulsed light platform from Cynosure. Unlike a laser, which emits a single wavelength, IPL delivers a broad spectrum of light that can be filtered to target different concerns.
That flexibility is the point: the same device can be tuned toward brown pigment or toward the red of visible vessels, which makes it useful where someone presents with both.
As with every treatment here, your skin is assessed first and settings are selected for your skin type rather than run to a fixed protocol.
Is Icon IPL right for you?
Icon IPL may be suitable if you would like to address:
- Sun-induced pigmentation, freckles and uneven skin tone
- Facial redness and flushing
- Visible capillaries and small vessels
- Overall dullness and skin clarity
- Signs of sun damage across the face, neck, chest and hands
IPL targets pigment, so suitability depends on your skin tone. This is assessed at consultation, and a patch test is performed before your first full treatment.
Why Icon IPL?
Adjustable Filters
The broad-spectrum light can be filtered toward brown pigment or toward vascular concerns, so the treatment is matched to what is actually being addressed.
Treats More Than the Face
Commonly used on the neck, décolletage and hands, where sun damage often shows earliest.
Minimal Downtime
Most clients return to normal activity immediately, with some temporary redness or warmth.
Works Within a Plan
Frequently combined with professional skincare and other treatments as part of a longer approach to pigmentation.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between IPL and laser?+
A laser emits a single, precise wavelength. IPL emits a broad spectrum of light that is filtered toward a target. Neither is simply better: they suit different concerns, and which is appropriate for you is decided at consultation rather than by which device a clinic happens to own.
Does Icon IPL hurt?+
Most clients describe a brief warm snapping sensation, often compared to an elastic band. Cooling is used throughout, and comfort is discussed with you before treatment begins.
Is there any downtime?+
Downtime is generally minimal. Temporary redness and warmth are common and usually settle within a few hours. Treated pigment often darkens before flaking away over the following days, which is expected.
How many treatments will I need?+
Pigmentation and vascular concerns are usually approached as a course rather than a single visit. The number depends on your skin and what is being treated, and progress is reviewed as you go.
Is IPL suitable for all skin tones?+
No. Because IPL targets pigment, it is not appropriate for every skin tone, and recent sun exposure or fake tan will also affect suitability. If IPL is not right for your skin we will tell you and discuss alternatives rather than proceed.
What aftercare is needed?+
Daily SPF is essential, and heat, saunas and vigorous exercise are avoided for the first 24 to 48 hours. Let any darkened pigment flake away naturally rather than exfoliating it.
